Introduction
Mount Nemrut is a 2,150-metre peak in the Taurus Mountains of southeastern Turkey, near Kâhta in Adıyaman province, crowned by the monumental tomb-sanctuary (Hierotheseion) of King Antiochus I of Commagene. The UNESCO World Heritage site features colossal stone statues and heads of gods, kings, and mythical creatures dating back around 2,000 years, and is renowned for sunrise and sunset views over the surrounding landscape.
