Introduction
Le Morne Brabant is a basaltic monolith and peninsula at the southwestern tip of Mauritius, rising about 556 metres above the Indian Ocean. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site as the Le Morne Cultural Landscape, historically used as a shelter by runaway slaves (maroons), and today it is popular for a challenging multi-hour hike to its summit with guided climbs offering panoramic ocean views.
