Introduction
The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is a government-funded, non-profit conservation and research institute located at 1375 Panda Avenue, Chenghua District, about 10 km from downtown Chengdu, Sichuan. Founded in 1987 from six rescued pandas, it now covers about 100-238 hectares of bamboo groves and is home to over 240 giant pandas, along with red pandas and other rare species, making it a leading breeding and research center as well as a popular tourist attraction.
