Introduction
Omoide Yokocho, meaning "Memory Lane," is a narrow warren of alleys near the west exit of Shinjuku Station in Tokyo, packed with dozens of tiny izakaya, yakitori stalls, and bars. Originating as a black market in the late 1940s, it retains a nostalgic, old-school atmosphere and is known for charcoal-grilled skewers such as chicken and pork/beef offal (horumon).
