Introduction
Route de Cilaos (RN5) is a mountain road on Réunion Island, the only route leading into the Cirque de Cilaos, connecting Saint-Louis to Cilaos over about 35-40 km. Nicknamed the 'Road of 400 Bends,' it winds through deep valleys and cliffs with numerous hairpin turns and several narrow, unlit tunnels, making the drive itself a scenic attraction.
