Introduction
Mont Rochelle Nature Reserve is a protected area in the Franschhoek Mountains, part of the UNESCO Cape Winelands Biosphere Reserve, located at the top of Franschhoek Pass near Stellenbosch. It spans about 1,759 hectares of mountain shrubland and offers around 10 hiking trails of varying difficulty with panoramic views over the Franschhoek Valley. Open daily from sunrise to sunset, it is a popular day-trip destination for hiking and picnicking from Cape Town.
