Introduction
Muckross Abbey is a ruined Franciscan friary founded around 1448, located within Killarney National Park in County Kerry, Ireland. Though roofless, the well-preserved ruins feature cloisters, winding staircases, and hidden tombs, centered around a famous ancient yew tree said to be about 400 years old. It also serves as a historic graveyard and is a National Monument in state guardianship.
