Introduction
Senja is Norway's second-largest island, located in Troms county above the Arctic Circle, north of the Lofoten archipelago. Often called "Norway in miniature," it features dramatic fjords, jagged mountains, sandy beaches, and picturesque fishing villages, offering some of northern Norway's most scenic hiking and coastal drives without the crowds of Lofoten. In 2025, archaeologists discovered a well-preserved Viking boat burial dating to around AD 900–950 on the island.
