Introduction
Plaza Independencia is the central square of Trelew, Argentina, located at 25 de Mayo and Rivadavia streets. Since 1910 it has served as the venue for cultural activities, public ceremonies, and community gatherings, and features a historic bandstand (glorieta) inaugurated by Welsh settlers, along with a national geodetic landmark at its center. The plaza was remodeled and reinaugurated in 2018 with new pathways, lighting, urban furniture, and landscaping improvements.
