Introduction
The Leshan Giant Buddha is a 71-meter-tall stone statue carved into a riverside cliff face near the city of Leshan, Sichuan, not far from Chengdu. Built during the Tang dynasty between 712 and 804, it is the largest seated Buddha statue in the world and is part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors can walk the cliff paths for close-up views or take a boat to see the statue from the river.
