Introduction
The Cittadella is a fortified citadel perched on a promontory above Victoria (Rabat), the capital of Gozo, Malta. Inhabited since the Bronze Age and later used by the Knights of St. John as a refuge from piracy, it now houses several museums including the Cathedral Museum, Museum of Archaeology, and Old Prison, alongside a Visitors' Centre. Meticulously restored and reopened in 2016, it offers panoramic views over Gozo and is on Malta's UNESCO World Heritage tentative list.
