Introduction
Lalish is a small mountain valley village in the Nineveh Plains of Kurdistan, Iraq, and is the holiest temple site of the Yazidi religion, containing the tomb of Sheikh Adi ibn Musafir. Its main sanctuary is a rectangular building with distinctive conical roofs, and the site draws Yazidi pilgrims for religious ceremonies such as the autumn assembly. It is worth visiting for its tranquil, sacred atmosphere and unique religious architecture found nowhere else in the world.
