Introduction
Isla Holbox is a small island in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, on the north coast of the Yucatán Peninsula, about 26 miles long and only about a mile wide, reached via a ferry from the port of Chiquilá. It has no cars (only golf-cart taxis), sandy streets, white-sand beaches, and colorful street art, and is known as a spot for whale shark viewing and kiteboarding in its shallow waters.
