Introduction
Wat Phra Yai, or Big Buddha Temple, is a Buddhist temple on Koh Samui, Thailand, built in 1972 on the small islet of Koh Fan (also spelled Koh Fan/Ko Phan), connected to the main island by a causeway near Plai Laem and Bophut. It is home to a golden Buddha statue roughly 12 meters (about 40 feet) tall, making it one of Koh Samui's most iconic and visible landmarks.
