Introduction
The Iraqi Martyr Monument, also known as Al-Shaheed Monument, is a large memorial in Baghdad dedicated to Iraqi soldiers who died in the Iran-Iraq War. Designed by sculptor Ismail Fatah al-Turk and completed in 1983, it features a 150-foot split turquoise dome on the eastern bank of the Tigris, set within grounds that include gardens, walkways, a lake, and an associated museum.
