Introduction
Nahuel Huapi National Park is Argentina's oldest national park, established in 1922 near the lakeside town of San Carlos de Bariloche in the Patagonian Lake District. Spanning roughly 7,000 square km across Río Negro and Neuquén provinces, it protects the vast glacial Nahuel Huapi Lake, Andean peaks, lenga forests, and steppe terrain, with elevations ranging from about 720 to 3,490 meters. Visitors come for trekking, mountain refuges, lake excursions, and scenic drives such as the Circuito Chico.
