Introduction
Tai O is a traditional fishing village on the western coast of Lantau Island in Hong Kong, known as the oldest fishing village in the city and home to the Tanka people who have lived on stilt houses over the water for around 200 years. Visitors come to wander its narrow canals, see the colorful boats and metal stilted houses, sample seafood and street snacks, and take boat rides through the waterways, sometimes nicknamed the "Venice of Hong Kong."
