Introduction
Tian Tan Buddha, known as the Big Buddha, is a 34-metre bronze statue completed in 1993 that sits atop Mount Muk Yue on Lantau Island, next to the Po Lin Monastery, a Buddhist monastery founded in 1906 by three monks from Jiangsu. It is the largest, seated outdoor bronze Buddha in the world, and the monastery complex offers prayer halls, incense, and mountain views, making it a major religious landmark and tourist attraction in Hong Kong.
