Introduction
Akkerendam Nature Reserve is a 2750-hectare reserve just north of Calvinia in the Northern Cape, proclaimed in 1962 as one of the oldest reserves in the province. It protects rugged Hantam Mountain landscapes and diverse fynbos, succulent Karoo and Renosterveld vegetation, offering hiking and mountain biking trails, picnic sites, birding, and access to the Karee Dam.
