Introduction
Fushimi Inari Taisha is the head shrine of the kami Inari, located at the base of Mount Inari in Fushimi Ward, southern Kyoto. Founded in 711 AD, it is famous for its thousands of vermilion torii gates forming trails up the mountain, and serves as the head of over 30,000 Inari shrines across Japan. It is open 24 hours and easily reached from Kyoto Station via JR Inari Station.
