Introduction
Place Masséna is the historic main square of Nice, named after André Masséna and laid out in 1843-1844, connecting the Old Town with the newer northern part of the city. It is known for its distinctive black-and-white paving, red façades, the Fountain of the Sun, and the contemporary sculpture group "Conversation à Nice," and it serves as a central meeting point crossed by the Promenade du Paillon.
