Introduction
The Temple of Debod is an authentic ancient Egyptian temple, built in the 2nd century BC near Aswan, that was dismantled and gifted to Spain by Egypt as thanks for helping protect the Abu Simbel temples during the Aswan Dam construction. It was rebuilt stone by stone and unveiled in 1972 in Madrid's Parque del Cuartel de la Montaña, near Plaza de España, and is now the city's oldest monument, surrounded by gardens with a hall, chapels, and an upper terrace.
