Introduction
The District Six Museum, located at 25A Buitenkant Street in Cape Town, is housed in a former Methodist mission church and commemorates District Six, a once-vibrant, racially mixed inner-city neighborhood destroyed under apartheid after being declared 'whites-only' in 1966. Through maps, photographs, oral testimonies, and other exhibits, it tells the story of the roughly 60,000 residents forcibly removed from their homes in the 1970s, preserving the community's history and cultural heritage.
