Introduction
The Petit Palais is a museum of fine arts located in the 8th arrondissement of Paris, on Avenue Winston Churchill opposite the Grand Palais. Built by architect Charles Girault for the 1900 Universal Exhibition, it became the Musée des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris in 1902 and houses paintings, sculptures, furniture and objets d'art from Antiquity to 1914, including a notable collection of 19th-century French art. Admission to the permanent collections is free, making it a popular stop near the Champs-Élysées.
