Pastéis de Belém is a historic pastry shop in Lisbon's Belém district, baking its famous custard tarts since 1837 using a secret recipe originally from the neighboring Jerónimos Monastery. It is widely regarded as the birthplace of the pastel de nata, and only tarts made here can officially bear the name 'Pastéis de Belém.'
