Introduction
The Monument to the Discoveries (Padrão dos Descobrimentos) is a caravel-shaped monument standing on the northern bank of the Tagus River in Belém, Lisbon, built to commemorate Portugal's Age of Discovery and the 500th anniversary of Henry the Navigator's death. Standing around 52-56 meters tall, it features carved figures of historical explorers and offers a viewpoint with panoramic views over the river and city, including the 25th of April Bridge.
