Introduction
Nara Park is a large public park in central Nara, Japan, established in 1880 at the foot of Mount Wakakusa, home to major sites such as Todai-ji, Kasuga Taisha, Kofukuji and the Nara National Museum. It is famous for its nearly 1,200 free-roaming sika deer, historically revered as sacred messengers of the gods, which mingle freely with visitors throughout the grounds.
